How Stark Auditor Guide researches, writes, checks and updates its guides, and what we will and won’t do. Last updated Sep 27, 2026.
Our purpose
We help people in Stark County, Ohio understand the Auditor’s services and use the official tools with confidence. A good page on this site answers the question first, explains the steps, shows a worked example where numbers are involved, and sends the reader to the official office for anything that must be done there.
Independence
- We are an independent publisher, Abu Hurera LLC. We are not the Stark County Auditor or any government office, and every page says so.
- We don’t use official seals, “official” in our page titles, or the county’s branding.
- We link to the official website for every service that must be done there.
- We don’t publish county job listings, copies of official reports, or pages about other counties.
Sources we rely on
Facts on this site come from primary sources: the Stark County Auditor, Treasurer, Recorder and Sheriff; the Ohio Department of Taxation; the Ohio Revised Code; and the Ohio Legislative Service Commission. We use news reporting only for context, such as how values changed in a reappraisal, and we label it. Every page ends with its list of sources. Our sources and methodology page lists them all.
How a page is made
- Research. We read the official pages, forms and laws for the topic and note each fact with its source.
- Draft. Pages are drafted with the help of AI writing tools, working only from those sources.
- Check. Every figure, deadline and phone number is checked against its source. Worked examples and tool results are recalculated from the county’s own data. A figure we can’t confirm isn’t published as fact.
- Consistency. Figures that appear on more than one page come from one fact list, and an automated check flags any page that states a number that isn’t on it.
- Publish with a date. Each guide shows a “Last verified” date: the day its facts were last checked.
When sources disagree or aren’t published
Sometimes two official pages give different figures, or a date hasn’t been announced yet. We say so on the page, show what each source says, and explain which one we follow and why. We don’t fill gaps with guesses.
Updates
We recheck pages when the county or state publishes new figures:
- Tax rates, reduction factors and credits: when the county’s new rate sheet is released each tax year.
- Homestead amounts and income limits: when the Ohio Department of Taxation announces them.
- Due dates: when the Treasurer publishes them.
- Dog license fees: before the December renewal window.
- Any page: when a reader reports a problem or a law changes.
Corrections
If you find an error, please contact us with the page address and, ideally, a link to the official source. We review every report. When we confirm an error, we fix it and update the page’s “Last verified” date.
Advertising and money
- The site is funded by display advertising, clearly labeled “Advertisement”.
- Ads are kept away from menus, buttons and our tools, and never placed so they could be mistaken for an official link.
- Advertisers have no say in what we write. We don’t accept paid mentions, sponsored guides or affiliate payments for recommending services.
- We never charge for, or pretend to provide, a government service.
What we don’t do
- Give legal, tax or financial advice about your situation.
- Look up, change or file anything with the county for you.
- Collect personal information through forms or tools. Our calculators run in your browser.
